Job Summary (List Format):

- Responsible for decontaminating, disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, packaging, and sterilizing surgical and clinical instrumentation
- Ensures all instrument processing meets AAMI and organizational Infection Control standards
- Provides both disposable and reusable equipment to the Operating Room (OR)
- Dispenses and manages disposable supplies for OR cases
- Performs manual and mechanical cleaning of reusable instruments and equipment
- Accurately re-assembles and packages instrument sets per department policy and manufacturer instructions
- Inspects instruments for cleanliness, defects, and functionality
- Uses electronic equipment to inspect electrosurgical instruments and cables
- Restocks specialty carts and supply cabinets (Omnicells) as needed
- Documents completed work and verifies processing parameters in the SPD Information System
- Sterilizes instrument sets according to policies, procedures, and manufacturer instructions
- Picks and prepares supplies for same day and next day surgeries
- Answers telephone inquiries from internal and external customers
- Meets unit productivity expectations (e.g., 24-32 trays per 8-hour shift; 2 decontamination manifolds per hour)
- Supports a variety of surgical specialties (e.g., Orthopedics, Robotics, Laparoscopic, Neurosurgery, ENT, Cardiovascular, Trauma, Plastics, Urology, Gynecology)
- Demonstrates familiarity with OR and clinic workflows and instrumentation
- Performs detail-oriented, repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
- Responds quickly to urgent (STAT/ASAP) requests from customers
- Adheres to critical thinking skills and works independently with minimal errors
- Maintains basic computer skills and understanding of medical terminology
- Possesses required certification (CRCST or CSPDT) and at least high school diploma or GED
- Preferred: Experience with Borescope, OneSource, SPM systems
