Description

Job Summary (List Format) – Registered Radiologic Technologist, Heart & Vascular Institute

- Provides patient care for individuals requiring invasive cardiology or radiology studies.
- Assists physicians during all procedures in the Heart & Vascular Institute.
- Administers contrast materials via IV or venipuncture; monitors and responds to allergic reactions.
- Works under direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist.
- Ensures correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment positioning.
- Compiles and reviews pertinent clinical information (labs, pathology, etc.).
- Documents procedures and patient information accurately and completely.
- Explains procedures to patients; ensures comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.
- Informs procedural nurse of correct doses of medications, radiation, and counts during procedures.
- Performs on-call duties and works variable shifts as assigned.
- Manages inventory and assists with supply management.
- Trains and instructs new staff as necessary.
- Performs all standard Radiologic Technologist duties.
- Performs department-specific tasks including:
- Administering or withholding contrast/treatment as appropriate.
- Assessing patients for allergies.
- Participating in peripheral vascular work, venous central line placement, tube changes, embolization (venous and arterial), and venous thrombectomy procedures.
- Assisting with interventional neurology, dialysis (AV fistulas, tunneled catheters, peritoneal catheters), and various tube access/changes (G-tube, chole, neph, biliary, abscess, SPC).
- Supporting neuro procedures (e.g., cerebral arterial/venous, kyphoplasty) as needed.
- Maintains sterile field and assists in pulling supplies for procedures.
- Adheres to departmental and safety protocols at all times.
- Requires ability to communicate effectively, follow detailed instructions, and maintain compassion in patient care.
- Manual dexterity required for handling small supplies.
- Education: Associate’s degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology required.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, IEMA Radiography (Illinois), ARRT (R) required.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30am–5:00pm (4/9s); neuro experience required.
- Language: Proficient in English (speak, read, write).
Med Ninjas Job ID #7207. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
