Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Nights

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Float Requirement: Must float within scope to like units as needed
  • Block Scheduling: Open to accommodation
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (must be outside a 50-mile radius from the main campus)
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; all contracted shifts beyond that are guaranteed
  • Return Staff Policy: Must be off assignment for 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (one extension allowed), then must be off for 6 months before returning

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background and Health Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 6 months prior to start; includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C; updated annually
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (specific substances required)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years; no declinations accepted)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella – titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
    • Hepatitis B – vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
    • Flu Vaccine – required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical or religious exemptions require facility approval
  • TB Screening: Negative PPD, Q Gold, or T-spot within 1 year; chest X-ray required if positive PPD (not older than 5 years)

Facility and Orientation Information

  • Facility Type: Short-term acute care, Level III Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital
  • Total Staffed Beds: 733
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrub Colors: Royal blue and white
  • Orientation: Majority of the first day is orientation; report time 6:30 AM on Monday at Human Resources
  • Photo for Badge: Professional passport-style photo required (no large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless religious)

    • Computer Use Acknowledgement
  • Completion of mandatory modules through facility system prior to start (due Monday before start date)
  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required but documentation is accepted if available
  • Facility requires acknowledgment of pass/fail testing and competency exams as part of onboarding

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
  • Pending licenses are not accepted.
  • Candidates must be willing to float between similar units within their scope of practice.
  • Background convictions within the last year or active cases will disqualify candidates.
  • Flu vaccine declinations are not accepted unless approved by the facility with proper exemption documentation.

This position offers a structured night shift schedule in a high-acuity acute care setting with a supportive environment for first-time travel nurses.
