Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Job Summary

Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients recovering from anesthesia, managing a range of health problems from simple to complex in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage care for an assigned group of patients.
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments; note changes in physician orders.
• Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
• Obtain and monitor patients’ physiological data; observe and intervene as needed.
• Administer medications, regulate and monitor IV infusions and blood products.
• Deliver competent patient care and communicate care plans to patients and families.
• Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
• Make referrals for patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
• Delegate tasks to support staff.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts: 7 PM to 7 AM
• Includes 2 call shifts within a 30-day schedule

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Minimum 1 year of PACU experience

Licenses & Certifications

• Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association

Skills

• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

No prior travel experience required.
