Nursing Director Residential Living

Location: Miles City, Montana
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Day (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

The Nursing Director provides leadership and operational direction for a Residential Living community offering long-term, skilled nursing, and short-term transitional care. This role involves collaboration with executive leadership to ensure optimal patient care, financial performance, and staff development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate nursing care aligned with current practice standards.
• Facilitate collaborative decision-making and communicate executive-level activities to staff.
• Develop, implement, and manage annual capital, operating, and personnel budgets.
• Foster professionalism and employee engagement within the unit and long-term care setting.
• Ensure adequate staffing through hiring, orientation, retention, and employee satisfaction efforts.
• Implement and monitor clinical program protocols, driving continuous process improvement.
• Collaborate with medical directors and system colleagues on clinical program goals.
• Evaluate staff competency via performance and peer reviews.
• Coordinate compliance with patient safety initiatives and regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS).
• Support nursing staff utilization of expanded roles such as nurse practitioners and specialty RNs.
• Serve as a role model in all aspects of patient care.
• Monitor and improve patient satisfaction using service metrics and national benchmarks.
• Partner with physicians to meet clinical, operational, and service objectives.
• Encourage staff involvement in community health initiatives and volunteer activities.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum 2 years of skilled nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in long-term care settings

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior leadership experience as a Nursing Executive Director, Nursing Home Administrator, or Community Manager.
• Experience overseeing healthcare operations.
