Registered Nurse – ER (Fayetteville, Georgia)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Summary
- Emergency Room nursing position requiring floating within the facility as needed, within scope of practice.
- Weekend schedule: every other weekend.
- No on-call required.
- Must work major holidays if they fall within the assignment period (expectation varies by number of holidays).
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
- Unit does not accept first-time travel nurses (prior travel experience required).
Required Certifications & Skills
- Current RN license for Georgia.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- EPIC electronic health record proficiency
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance with credentialing and onboarding required to start on time.
- Orientation hours are non-billable and vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for an 8-week assignment).
- Rolling Time Off (RTO) allowed up to 7 days per contract.
- Failure to be compliant on time results in a 2-week start delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling.
Health & Background Requirements
- Background check required within 30 days of start; must be complete prior to start.
- Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start).
- Physical exam within 12 months of start required.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; cannot start with results pending.
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for ER nurses; up to 3 attempts allowed, failure on third attempt results in cancellation.
- Color blindness test required; alternative assessment available if needed.
- Additional competency exams as required by Aya (not client-mandated).
Additional Notes
- Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers.
- Candidate profile review by manager within 48 hours after confirmation to ensure fit for unit/schedule/expertise.
- Must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start.
- Two clinical references required.
- Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start).
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months required.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current PALS certification
- NIHSS certification
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are comfortable working a day shift schedule with every other weekend and holiday coverage expectations.
