Job Details

• Job Title: American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter

• Location: Gary, IN (Open to Virtual candidates)

• Setting: School (On-Site or Teletherapy / Virtual)

• Pay Rate: Up to $45.00 / hour

• Schedule: Full-Time

• Contract Length: 2026-2027 School Year

• Candidate Type: Local, traveler, or remote friendly

• Preferred: Educational interpreting experience preferred (EIPA score of 3.5+ or RID certification).

• Requirements: Valid Indiana Sign Language Interpreter License or state educational interpreting credentials (or applicable certifications for virtual providers).

Responsibilities

• Provide fluent, real-time American Sign Language interpretation for deaf or hard-of-hearing students in educational settings.

• Facilitate clear communication between students, peers, teachers, and school staff during instructional time and school activities.

• Adapt to varied classroom formats, whether delivering services on-site or through a virtual platform.

• Participate in IEP team meetings to offer insights on communication accommodations and student needs.

• Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to the Educational Interpreter Code of Ethics.
