Description
Start Date: March 16, 2026
Location: Newark, New Jersey
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 13-week assignment; Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday); Patient ratio typically 1:2
Highlights:
- 19-bed PICU unit treating infants, pediatrics, and adolescents with complex critical care needs
- Cardiac experience strongly preferred – exposure to post-cardiac surgery patients, hemodynamic monitoring, and management of dysrhythmias
- Work with advanced respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
- EPIC charting system with interdisciplinary support from PT, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
- May float to Pediatrics or NICU based on skill set and appropriate assignment; ratios adjusted accordingly
- Full orientation and compliance training provided prior to start
Requirements:
- Active New Jersey or Compact RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of PICU critical care experience required; 1 year of cardiac experience strongly preferred (must be documented on skills checklist)
- BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, Medtronic pacemakers, ventilator management, and pediatric dosage calculations required
- Proficiency in EPIC charting system required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
- Candidates must complete non-billable pre-start training modules (average 18 hours) and compliance requirements within specified timeframes
