Description
Start Date: June 1, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Days/Nights or Nights only). Self-scheduling available with requests accepted to accommodate preferred schedules. Rotating schedules reviewed every 4-week period based on department needs. Variable weekend coverage based on unit needs. May float to other MedSurg Oncology units as needed.
Highlights:
- Specialize in caring for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients in a 24-bed unit with daily census of 22
- Goal staffing ratio of 1:4, with flexibility to 1:5 based on acuity
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety initiatives
- Robust interdisciplinary support including Rapid Response Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, and more
- Epic charting system with comprehensive orientation: first week Monday-Friday dayshift, followed by 36 hours on-unit preceptor training
- Oncology experience preferred but not required; chemotherapy certification not mandatory
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required, with at least 1 year of current specialty experience
- Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required; ONS Chemo Certification preferred
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line management
- Epic charting experience required
- Travel nursing experience required; previous travelers to this facility must have been away for 6 months or more
- 2 professional references required (at least 1 must be from a manager, director, or formal supervisor)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Education from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon contract signing

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
