Description
Start Date: May 4, 2026 (alternate start dates of April 20 or May 18, 2026 available)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), every other weekend, some holidays, no call
Highlights:
- 27-bed Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic ICU in a Magnet-designated, nationally ranked academic medical center
- Specialized patient population including CABG, valve repair/replacement, heart and lung transplants, LVAD, ECMO, and advanced cardiac procedures
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and physical therapy
- Patient assignments typically 1-2 patients with support from 2 charge nurses and a dedicated resource nurse per shift
- Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation provided
- Dynamic environment with planned and emergent procedures, requiring technological expertise and advanced critical care skills
Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin RN license (must be in hand at time of submission) or compact state license
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care CVICU experience within the last 3 years (required)
- Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- CVICU experience required; Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area experience preferred
- Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required
- Proficiency with CRRT (NxStage), IABP, Impella, HM3 LVAD, ECMO, and Zoll Thermoguard required
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to start (100% identification of lethal rhythms, 80% overall passing score)
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
