Description
Start Date: July 27, 2026
Location: Northern California
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts available upon request; 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio; 36-hour orientation
Highlights:
- LDRP unit in a 277-bed acute care facility with 10 labor and delivery rooms and average daily census of 12
- Facility delivers 200-300 births per month; Epic charting system
- Work with neonates and adult patient populations in a dynamic maternal care environment
- 13-week assignment with potential to float to affiliate facilities as needed
- Guaranteed hours with minimal call-off policy (once per two-week pay period maximum)
- Strong precepting skills are a plus
Requirements:
- Active California RN license in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery and Postpartum experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not eligible
- Required Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
- Preferred Certification: AWHONN Advanced
- Epic charting experience required
- Experience with 1:3 patient ratios
- Must be outside 50-mile local radius
- Two professional references covering one year within the last three years
- Willingness to work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
Clinical Skills Required:
- Labor and delivery and postpartum care (both required)
- Triage of obstetrical patients and sterile vaginal exams
- High-risk antepartum care and circulating for C-sections
- Magnesium sulfate therapy, insulin drips, and antihypertensives
- IUPC placement and calibration
- Central line maintenance (CVC/PICC) and anticoagulation therapy
- Isolation precautions and PPE protocols

With a supportive 36-hour orientation and clear expectations, you'll be positioned to make an immediate impact on maternal and neonatal health outcomes in Northern California.
Important Assignment Details:
- Time off requests must be submitted at time of application
- Floating to like units and affiliate facilities may be required
- Pre-start modules required (average 16 hours, non-billable)
- Return staff policy: 3-month break required before returning as traveler
- Housing options may be limited; early planning recommended
