Description
Start Date: July 21, 2026
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, day shift; every other weekend required
Highlights:
- 8-week assignment caring for post-cardiac surgery patients transitioning from ICU
- Cardiovascular stepdown unit specializing in cardiac surgery recovery and telemetry monitoring
- 4:1 patient ratio with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
- Epic EMR system; Epic training provided based on experience level (accelerated or 2-day course)
- 24 hours of orientation with 21-bed unit focused on complex cardiac care
- Strong team environment with access to pharmacy, radiology, social services, and unit secretary support
Requirements:
- Active Virginia RN license or Compact license in hand at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in cardiovascular stepdown or telemetry
- Demonstrated expertise managing chest tubes and cardiac dysrhythmias
- Experience with cardiac surgery patients, telemetry monitoring, and post-ICU cardiac care
- Skills required include cardiac drip management, vasoactive drip management, ABG interpretation, central line care, BiPAP/CPAP, and ventilated patient care
- Flu vaccine required during flu season; COVID-19 vaccination required with medical/religious exemptions only
- Smoke/nicotine-free facility
