Description
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (primarily 0640-1910, with potential for biweekly 0940-2210 shift). Weekday and weekend call required. Every 4th-5th weekend starting Friday through Monday morning call. 17-21 week assignment available.
Highlights:
- Tier 2 Cardiac specialty focus requiring advanced cardiothoracic surgical experience
- High-acuity case mix including ECMO, CABG, LVAD, thoracic robotic surgery (DaVinci Xi), lobectomy, mitral valve procedures, VATS, and lung resection
- 1:1 patient ratios across all shifts
- Epic charting system utilized facility-wide
- Magnet-designated academic medical center recognized as a top-ranked teaching hospital and referral center
- Opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team in a Level I or II trauma environment
Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
- BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care operating room experience within the last 3 years
- Strong cardiothoracic and thoracic surgery experience required; must have worked in Level I or similar-sized hospitals with high-caliber complex surgeries
- Experience with Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable areas (level 3 or above)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required; Level I preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Must successfully complete telemetry competency exam (Adult and Pediatric) with strict passing criteria prior to start
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Willingness to float as needed
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
