Description
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Evening/Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Patient ratio 1:3. 36 hours orientation provided.
Highlights:
- Work in a Magnet-designated academic medical center and Level I Trauma facility
- Care for acutely ill adult patients in a 29-bed Intermediate Medical Care unit specializing in thoracic, cardiac, and oncology populations
- Provide specialized care for patients with Cystic Fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment with strong nursing advocacy for quality patient care
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- 13-week assignment with opportunity to make meaningful impact in a fast-paced teaching institution
Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in specialty area
- Required experience: Telemetry Oncology, Cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
- Ventilator and transplant experience required (strong proficiency mandatory)
- Academic Level I or II trauma center experience or similar size hospital required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Must pass telemetry exam prior to start (100% identification of lethal rhythms, 80% overall passing score)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Ability to float as needed within facility
