Description
Job Title: Cardiovascular Surgery ICU (CVSICU) Travel RN
Location: Rochester, MN
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Hours: 36 hours per week
Shifts Available:
Day/Night Rotation (07:00 – 19:30 and 19:00 – 07:30)
or
Straight Nights (19:00 – 07:30)
Schedule & Logistics:
Every 3rd weekend required
Floating required as needed
Orientation Requirement: Must pass an ECG exam during orientation to continue the assignment.
Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of comprehensive nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care within the Cardiovascular Surgery ICU. Functioning within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model and guided by the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN provides clinical leadership, delegates care appropriately based on patient acuity, and maintains excellent communication and mentoring skills.
Key Responsibilities
Critical Care Delivery: Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of intensive nursing care for complex cardiovascular surgery patients.
Clinical Leadership: Serves as an informal leader and mentor, participating in quality improvement efforts and clinical committees or projects as needed.
Resource Delegation: Delegates patient care tasks effectively according to team skill levels, experience, patient acuity, and resource adequacy.
Patient & Family Advocacy: Supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to fully meet the clinical and educational needs of the patient and family.
Experience & Education
Required Experience:
2+ years of recent acute care ICU nursing experience.
1+ year of recent travel nursing experience.
Preferred Experience:
Direct Cardiovascular ICU (CVSICU) experience.
Clinical experience with Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), Impella, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP).
Education & Licensure:
Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program (ACEN or CCNE). If the program was unaccredited, or graduation occurred over 2 years ago, 1 year of applicable RN experience within the last 5 years is required.
Active Minnesota State Registered Nurse license (or applicable state requirements).
Certifications Required:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Basic Life Support (BLS) / BCLS for Healthcare Providers (Must not expire within 3 months of start date)
Preferred:
Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
