Description
Start Date: August 31, 2026 (flexible start September 14, 2026)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 1900 - 0730, Monday through Friday with weekend rotation and holidays as needed. Patient ratio 1:4. 24 hours of orientation provided.
Highlights:
- Fast-paced 25-bed neuroscience specialty inpatient unit with diverse case mix including medical and surgical neuro patients
- Work with post-surgical cases including spine surgeries, brain tumors, craniotomies, and ophthalmology procedures
- Patient population includes multiple sclerosis, ALS, Guillain-Barre syndrome, stroke, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and complex ortho trauma cases
- Epic EMR system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Magnet-designated teaching hospital ranked as Wisconsin's top hospital and recognized nationally as a leading referral center
- Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Program with capability to treat the most complex stroke cases in the state
Requirements:
- Current Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in Neuro Medical-Surgical/Telemetry within the last 3 years
- Epic charting system experience required
- BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
- Telemetry competency – must pass telemetry examination prior to start with strict criteria: 100% identification of lethal rhythms, 80% overall passing score
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia management
- Proficiency in complex clinical skills including central line management, blood product administration, tracheostomy care, wound vac, insulin protocols, and chest tube management
- Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Willingness to float as needed
