Description
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Day and Night shifts available; 8-hour and 12-hour shift options (1900-0730 for nights); every other weekend and some holidays required; FTE 1.2 available
Highlights:
- 18-bed Neuroscience ICU certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center at a Magnet-designated facility
- 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio across all shifts providing optimal care environment
- Epic EMR system in use; experience required
- Specialized neuro patient population including stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, post-neurosurgery, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury
- Advanced critical care procedures including ICP monitoring, EVD management, lumbar drains, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including PT, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Wisconsin or Compact state license)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in ICU specialty
- ICU experience required; neurosurgery experience preferred
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Previous travel experience required
- Must pass pre-start telemetry exam with strict passing criteria (lethal rhythm identification, dysrhythmia interpretation)
- Experience with ICP monitoring or ventricular drains required
- Willingness to work with both ICU and IMC patient populations
- Willingness to float as needed
- Must reside more than 50 miles from facility
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
