Description
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM), Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Patient ratio 1:3 for IMC level care, 1:4 for general care.
Highlights:
- Work in a dual-unit environment providing specialized care in both acute medical/progressive care and thoracic intermediate care settings
- 29-bed unit caring for acutely ill adult patients with complex conditions including cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant patients
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- Academic Level I Trauma Center environment with 36 hours of orientation
- Opportunity to care for specialty populations including telemetry oncology, cardiac, and transplant patients
- Collaborative team environment where nursing voices are integral to quality patient care decisions
Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin RN license or current Compact RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown specialty
- Required experience: Telemetry oncology, cardiac, ventilator management, and transplant care
- Level I or Level II Trauma Center experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Must successfully pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (80% passing score with specific criteria for lethal rhythms and heart blocks)
- Proficiency in Epic charting system
- Strong clinical skills including: arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, cardiac drips titration, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-operative care
