Description
Start Date: September 28, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Day/Evening shifts, 12-hour shifts (7:00am - 7:30pm), Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. 3:1 patient ratio.
Highlights:
- Work in both IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units within a Magnet-designated academic medical center and Level I Trauma facility
- Care for acutely ill adult patients including specialty populations such as Cystic Fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant patients
- 29-bed unit with both general care (1:4 ratio) and IMC (1:2 ratio) level patients requiring critical thinking and collaborative teamwork
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy
- 36-hour orientation with strong emphasis on telemetry, ventilator management, and post-transplant care
- Opportunity to work at a nationally ranked teaching institution and referral center
Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown specialty
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Academic Level I or II Trauma Center experience required
- Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and progressive care experience required
- Ventilator and transplant experience required – strong proficiency mandatory
- Epic charting system experience required
- Must successfully pass telemetry examination prior to start date (strict passing criteria apply)
- Required skills include: cardiac telemetry, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patient care, chest tubes, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, titration of cardiac and insulin drips, post-transplant care, and wound care
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from facility
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Floating to other units as needed
