Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week assignments available. Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible scheduling). Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical stepdown, 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients.

Highlights:

• Comprehensive cardiac stepdown unit caring for complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients
• Advanced cardiac procedures including post-CABG, TAVR, Watchman, cardiac catheterization, and electrophysiology
• Epic charting system with 24 hours of paid orientation
• Collaborative interdisciplinary team including respiratory therapy, rapid response, pharmacy, and specialty services
• Experience with cardiac drip titration, sheath removal, chest tube management, and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Will follow standard unit float rotation (not first to float)

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac stepdown or telemetry experience required
• Travel nursing experience required unless 24+ months of cardiac experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Proficiency in cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, sheath removal, and cardiac drip management
• Experience with chest tubes, non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP), and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Availability for interview required prior to offer

Preferred Qualifications:

• Arterial line management experience
• Wound care and wound VAC therapy experience
• Previous charge nurse experience
• Epic charting experience

Patient Population:

• Adult and geriatric patients with cardiac and vascular diagnoses including atrial fibrillation, CHF, acute coronary syndrome, cardiomyopathy, endocarditis, and peripheral vascular disease
• Post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgical patients including CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, carotid endarterectomy, and vascular bypass procedures
• Post-procedural patients following cardiac catheterization, cardioversion, electrophysiology studies, and pacemaker placement
