Description
Start Date: September 28, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Evening/Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. 3:1 patient ratio. 36 hours of orientation provided.
Highlights
- Work in both IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic specialty units within a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma Center
- Care for acutely ill adult patients including specialty populations: Cystic Fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant patients
- 29-bed unit with General Care (1:4 ratio) and IMC (1:2 ratio) level patients requiring critical thinking and teamwork
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- Collaborative environment where nurses serve as integral members of the multidisciplinary team
- 13-week travel assignment with professional development in a leading academic medical center
Requirements
- Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
- BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years
- Required experience: Telemetry oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
- Required experience: Ventilator management and transplant patient care (strong proficiency required)
- Academic Level I or II Trauma Center experience required
- Travel nursing experience required
- Must pass telemetry exam prior to start date with strict passing criteria (100% identification of lethal rhythms, 80% overall passing score)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
Key Clinical Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Ventilated patient care and non-invasive airway management
- Post-transplant care and immunosuppression management
- Cardiac drip titration and IV insulin protocols
- Arterial line management and interpretation of ABGs
- Central line and PICC line management
- Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
- Blood product administration and heparin protocols
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and BiPAP/CPAP management
- Tracheostomy care and feeding tube management
