Requirements:

• Active RN License in the state of Texas or compact state licensure
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a related nursing specialty required
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• Current ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for complex medical-surgical patients

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for medical-surgical patients with varying acuity levels
• Administer medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers
• Assess learning needs and provide patient and family education
• Manage contingencies of clinical nursing with a focus on long-range care goals
