Description
Start Date: September 28, 2026
Location: Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (day and night rotation), 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, every other weekend, some holidays, no call
Highlights:
- 27-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit specializing in cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical patients
- Patient population includes CABG, valve repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, LVAD, heart and lung transplants, thoracic surgery, STEMI/NSTEMI, and cardiogenic shock
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1-2 patients (occasionally 3 general care patients during low acuity periods)
- Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation provided
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and physical therapy
- Magnet-designated teaching facility ranked among the nation's leading hospitals
- Travel assignment with two pre-approved time-off periods available
Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin RN license or compact state license
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in CVICU specialty
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- CVICU experience required with demonstrated expertise in cardiovascular intensive care
- Experience and knowledge of NxStage CVVH/CRRT machine required
- Experience with cardiothoracic surgery and/or acuity adaptable areas preferred
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Must pass telemetry exam prior to start (strict passing criteria applies)
- Proficiency in advanced equipment including CRRT, IABP, Impella, LVAD, and ECMO
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
