Description
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Evening/Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), every other weekend rotation, holiday coverage required. Contract length flexible: 13-26 weeks available.
Highlights:
- 18-bed Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit within a Magnet-designated, Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Specialized care for critically ill adult and geriatric patients with neurological diagnoses including stroke, traumatic brain injury, post-neurosurgery, and spinal cord injury
- 2:1 patient ratios across all shifts; Epic EMR required
- Advanced procedures including ICP monitoring, external ventricular drains (EVD), lumbar drains, and hypothermia protocols
- Interdisciplinary team support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and more

Requirements:
- Active RN license (Wisconsin or Compact state)
- BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in specialty area
- ICU experience required; neurosurgery experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Experience with ICP monitoring or ventriculostomy required
- Basic arrhythmia experience required; must pass telemetry exam prior to start (strict passing criteria apply)
- Willingness to work with both ICU and IMC patient populations
- Willingness to float as needed within the facility
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
