Description
Start Date: September 28, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour evening/night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, with every other weekend and some holidays required. May be scheduled for contingent weekends if requesting off scheduled weekends.
Highlights:
- Work in a 12-bed neuroscience critical care unit caring for both ICU and IMC level patients
- Patient population includes stroke (ischemic and hemorrhagic), traumatic brain injuries, post-neurosurgery care, brain tumors, seizures, and spinal cord injuries
- 2:1 patient ratio for days, nights, and weekends with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
- Epic charting system; strong critical thinking required for interventions including vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring, EVDs, lumbar drains, and ventilator management
- Magnet-designated teaching facility recognized nationally for neuroscience programs
- Telemetry exam required prior to start with strict passing criteria
Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
- BLS and ACLS certification (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in specialty
- ICU experience required; neurosurgery experience strongly preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Must pass telemetry examination prior to start (80% passing score; 100% identification of lethal rhythms required)
- Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
- Willingness to float as needed and work with both ICU and IMC patient populations
