Description
Start Date: September 21, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required. Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 2:1, may flex to 3:1 during high census. Float requirement applies.
Highlights:
- Comprehensive Stroke Center specializing in stroke patients (ischemic, hemorrhagic, SAH), craniotomies, carotid procedures, aneurysm management, and complex neurosurgical cases
- Average daily census of 11-12 patients in a 13-bed Neuro ICU environment
- Contract lengths available from 13+ weeks through February 27, 2027
- 24 hours of unit orientation provided over 2 shifts
- Work with specialized equipment including EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
- Epic charting system with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience required (strong neuro critical care background essential, not general ICU)
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS/BCLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Demonstrated competency in: ventilator management, IV starts, neuro intensive care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, isolation precautions/PPE use, and lumbar drain experience
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Comfortable with floating to other units as needed
- Arterial line management experience preferred
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
