Description
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Coastal North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week with every other weekend required. Patient ratios of 1:6 for Medical/Surgical/Telemetry patients or 1:4 for Progressive Care Unit level patients. This is a float pool position supporting ED holding operations.
Highlights:
- Emergency Department Holding support role caring for patients awaiting inpatient beds with diverse adult Medical/Surgical diagnoses
- Fast-paced, high-acuity environment managing PCU level patients, dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and complex medical conditions
- Contract assignments from 13+ weeks up to February 27, 2027 to support the facility through the busy holiday season
- Flexibility to float to Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical areas as needed for comprehensive experience
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and 12-hour orientation period
- Interdisciplinary support including Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and Social Services
Requirements:
- Active RN license in North Carolina or Compact state licensure
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to contract start date
- Proficiency in MS/Telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, advanced airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula), and multiple technical skills including PICC line management, chest tubes, feeding tubes, colostomy care, and phlebotomy
- Experience with complex patient populations including renal failure, isolation precautions, heparin and insulin protocols
- Willingness to serve on Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Preferred Qualifications:
- NIHSS certification
- Experience with CVA patients, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, and total joint replacements
- Skills in accessing ports, central line blood draws, IV starts, hemodialysis management, and wound care/wound vac management
- Epic charting experience preferred
