Description
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Patient ratios 1:5-6. Floating to similar units as needed.
Highlights:
- Acute care unit specializing in orthopedic trauma, neuro trauma, and traumatic brain injuries
- Epic charting system with comprehensive 28-hour orientation (12-hour unit orientation plus 16-hour organizational education)
- Dynamic patient population including severe bone/joint injuries, spinal cord injuries, and surgical patients
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, lift teams, pharmacy, and physical therapy
- 32-bed unit with advanced equipment including external fixators, chest tubes, heparin drips, and central line management
- First-time travelers and local candidates accepted
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact State license)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 5 years
- BLS certification required; ACLS strongly preferred
- Epic documentation experience required
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, heparin drips, PCA management, colostomy care, feeding tube management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV starts, and wound care
- Experience with management of dysrhythmias, oxygen protocol management, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, surgical drains, chest tubes, tracheostomy management, and wound care
- Must be comfortable with 1:5-6 patient ratios
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Preferred Qualifications:
- ACLS certification
- Experience with interpretation of dysrhythmias, pre/post hemodialysis management, drip management, CVA care, pre/post neurosurgery, and spinal cord injuries

Additional Information:
- Time off: Up to 7 days may be requested (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events
- Navy scrubs required
- Pre-start online modules required (approximately 8-10 hours, completed via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge)
