Description
Start Date: October 4, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), every other weekend rotation, 1 on-call shift per 6-week scheduling period, one winter holiday required (2 block shifts)
Highlights:
- Work in a Magnet-designated comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center with a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU
- Epic charting system in use
- Provide care across all pediatric age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adolescents
- 40 hours of orientation provided
- Collaborative interdisciplinary team environment focused on high-quality patient care
- Opportunity to work with non-invasive ventilation, high flow, and mechanical ventilation at IMC and ICU levels
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care respiratory therapy experience within the last 3 years
- Graduate of a COARC-accredited program
- Wisconsin RCP license required
- Current certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS, RRT
- Epic charting experience required
- Pediatric and adult experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Must pass cardiac telemetry exam with strict criteria (80% passing score; 100% identification of lethal rhythms)
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
Clinical Skills Required:
- Proficiency in aerosolized medication administration, airway clearance techniques, tracheostomy care, and sputum inductions
- Experience with ventilator management including IMV/SIMV, high-frequency oscillators, and pressure/volume ventilators
- Competency in BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula therapy
- Arterial blood gas interpretation and drawing
- Intubation assistance and extubation procedures
- Bronchoscopy assistance and pulmonary hygiene techniques
- Emergency department experience
- Experience with specialty therapies including Nitric Oxide (iNO) and inhaled medications
- Neonatal transport experience (inter-departmental)
