Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit RN – Ohio

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Day/Night Rotating, 36 hours per week. Rotating positions do not have a fixed schedule; shifts are assigned based on organizational needs. Flexibility to work both days and nights is required. Every other weekend required.

Highlights

• Progressive Care Unit (Surgical Step-Down) with patient ratios of 3-4:1, with attempts to maintain 3:1
• Epic EMR system experience required
• Must pass telemetry test and have experience monitoring telemetry patients

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown/IMC) or Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience
• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
• Must successfully pass telemetry competency testing
• Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required: at least one from a manager, director, or formal supervisor; Charge RN acceptable for second reference
• Completion of Ohio fingerprinting process upon contract signing (urgent compliance required)

Clinical Skills

• Telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Blood product administration, IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, heparin protocols
• Central line care/management, PICC line management, peripheral line care
• Non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, oxygen tanks
• Starting and maintaining IVs, phlebotomy
• PCA pumps, surgical drains, wound care/wound VAC
• Isolation precautions/PPE, use of Rapid Response/Code teams

Patient Population

Adult and geriatric patients requiring progressive care level monitoring, including bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, other post-surgical overflow, and general medicine patients.

Interdisciplinary Support

Comprehensive team including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, and Unit Secretary support.

Important Compliance Information

Any pre-approved time off must be requested at time of submission and built into the contract.
