Description
Start Date: October 26, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; 36 or 48-hour contracts accepted; contract lengths 13-26 weeks available
Highlights:
- Specialized neurology unit focusing on neurosurgical procedures and neurological diagnoses
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6 with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
- Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract with floating as needed
- Two orientation shifts on unit following hospital-based orientation
- Daily census of 36 patients in a 36-bed unit with comprehensive support services
Requirements:
- Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
- BLS certification required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required; first-time travelers accepted
- Neurology experience strongly preferred
- Experience with telemetry, IV management, pre/post neurosurgery care, CVA patients, and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Completion of 8-10 hours of pre-start online modules using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge

Additional Information:
- Floating within or near the facility is required as needed
- Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays; up to 7 days of pre-approved time off available (no holidays, not during first week)
- All testing and lab work must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
- Navy scrubs required
