Description
Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts with 2:1 to 3:1 patient ratios; daily census of 30 neonates; float to other units within organization as needed
Highlights:
- Provide specialized care in a Level III NICU for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above
- Manage complex cases including respiratory distress, glucose management, and pre/post-surgical and cardiac intervention care
- Work with state-of-the-art equipment and multidisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, and radiology
- Utilize EPIC charting system and Pyxis medication administration
- Care for high-acuity patients including neonates under 24-28 weeks gestation
- Collaborate with advanced practice providers and comprehensive interdisciplinary team
Requirements:
- Active Registered Nurse license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Minimum 1 year of NICU Level III or Level IV experience
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Graduation from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Proficiency in ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
- Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and umbilical catheter management
- Competency in cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and neonatal abstinence syndrome interventions
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
- Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or director
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates with respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and infectious disease conditions
- Administer IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids via Pyxis system
- Manage specialized feeding methods including bottle, breast, and gavage feeding
- Perform and maintain arterial lines, central lines, and umbilical catheters
- Implement SBAR communication method for effective collaboration with healthcare team and families
- Document patient care activities and assessments in EPIC electronic health record
- Oversee ventilator settings and respiratory support for neonates
- Maintain strict infection control and isolation precautions
