Description
Start Date: September 28, 2026
Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 to 07:15), 36 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Contract length of 13 to 26 weeks available. 24 hours of orientation provided.
Highlights:
- Mixed acuity unit with PCU and Med-Surg/Telemetry patients; 48-bed unit with typical ratios of 1:4-5 (up to 1:6 in high-volume situations)
- Patient population includes COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, chest tubes, and telemetry monitoring with diverse comorbidities
- Comprehensive unit support including admission/discharge nurse, assistant nurse manager on shift, vascular access team, respiratory therapists, rapid response team, and behavioral health team
- Experience with ventilators (chronic trach/vent patients), chest tubes, cardiac drips (Dopamine, Cardizem, Heparin), BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy care
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
- Floating to like units may be required; white or navy blue scrubs (not provided)
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
- Current certifications: ACLS and BLS (required); NIHSS (preferred)
- Strong skills in IV starts, ventilator management, telemetry monitoring, BiPAP/CPAP, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with Epic charting preferred
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high-acuity team environment
