Position: Travel Certified Surgical Technologist – Open Heart (CST)
Location: Muskegon, MI 49444 (Muskegon County, West Michigan)
Setting: Hospital – Open Heart Unit / Operating Room (Cardiothoracic OR)
Start Date: March 9, 2026
End Date: June 7, 2026
Duration: 13 weeks
Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $1850 – $1990
Shift: 06:30 AM – 05:30 PM
Shift Duration: 10-hour days
Hours per Week: 40
On-Call: Required during the week (typically 2 days) and every 2nd–3rd weekend; one on-call holiday if applicable

Job Requirements

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
Open Heart / cardiothoracic surgical experience required
Current BLS certification
Perioperative (OR) experience and proficiency with sterile technique in cardiothoracic cases
Ability to participate in on-call rotation (weekdays, weekends, and holidays as scheduled)
Complete required onboarding, health screenings, background checks, and compliance documentation

Responsibilities

Maintain sterile technique and support a safe, efficient surgical environment for open-heart and cardiothoracic procedures
Prepare the operating room: case setup, instrumentation, supplies, and equipment checks for cardiothoracic cases
Perform surgical counts and assist with instrument and supply management throughout the case
Anticipate surgeon and team needs; pass instruments and supplies accurately and efficiently
Support infection prevention standards, patient safety practices, and OR policies/protocols
Communicate clearly with the perioperative team and contribute to smooth room turnover
Respond to call coverage as scheduled and assist with urgent/emergent cases when needed
