- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Job Type: Travel Nurse – Operating Room (OR RN / Perioperative Nurse)
- Location: Springfield, IL 62781 (Springfield, Illinois travel nursing jobs / Illinois OR nurse jobs)
- Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Level I Trauma Center
- Shifts: 4 x 10-hour day shifts (06:45 – 17:15)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,320 – $2,440
- Start Date: April 27, 2026
- Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend shift per month
- On-Call Requirement: Approximately 1 per week (may be less frequent)
- Charting: Cerner (experience with Cerner preferred)
- Scrub Color: Provided
- Parking: Permit required, no cost
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room RN experience in a Level I trauma setting (OR/trauma experience required)
- Active Illinois RN license (in hand or in process at time of application)
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross only)
- Travel nursing experience required
- General OR and trauma experience across multiple service lines
- Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
- CNOR certification preferred (perioperative certification)
- Must live at least 50 miles from facility to apply (travel nurse eligibility)
- Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps holiday periods
Responsibilities / Clinical Duties
- Provide circulating and assisting support for a wide variety of surgical procedures (excluding cardiovascular)
- Deliver perioperative patient care for general surgery, trauma, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, and emergency cases
- Demonstrate proficiency with OR equipment and instrumentation, including electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables
- Administer blood products, maintain strict infection control, and ensure radiation safety
- Handle, label, and transport specimens according to universal protocols
- Respond to codes and intraoperative/post-op emergencies as needed
- Float within skill set to meet facility needs (rarely required)
- Participate in orientation and complete all required modules and compliance tasks on time
