Travel Nursing Job Details

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state of assignment requirements apply)
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience; Med/Surg experience preferred
• Experience in related specialties (Thoracic Surgery, Surgical Pathology, Sub-Acute, Pediatric PACU, Pediatric OR) is a plus
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and patient education skills for med/surgical nursing

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Perform timely nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission and develop individualized care plans
• Provide med/surgical nursing care, participate in patient rehabilitation programs, and support recovery efforts
• Identify teaching needs and set goals for patients and families; coordinate education with the interdisciplinary team
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching starting at admission to promote safe transitions of care
• Communicate changes in patient status to providers to ensure continuity and safety in acute care
• Supervise and provide direction to ancillary nursing personnel and support staff as needed
• Maintain personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies and protocols
• Contribute positively to unit team building and maintain an efficient, patient-centered work environment
• Assume charge responsibilities as requested after orientation and demonstrate leadership in the unit
• Pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study to maintain clinical competency
