Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Cardiac Catheterization Technologist (CT Tech / RCIS) for a 13-week travel assignment in Portsmouth, Virginia (zip code 23707). This travel cardiovascular technologist role supports invasive cardiology and electrophysiology procedures alongside cardiologists and vascular physicians using advanced lab technology. Ideal candidates have catheterization lab experience, strong ECG monitoring skills, and comfort working in a fast-paced hospital Cardiac Cath Lab.

- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,030 – $2,190
- Setting: Hospital – Cardiac Catheterization Lab / Interventional Cardiology
- Shift: 12-hour days, Monday–Friday
- Hours per Week: 36–40
- On-Call: At least 14 days of call required during assignment
- Type: Travel, On-site
Required Qualifications (Cardiovascular Tech / RCIS)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab or similar invasive cardiology setting
- RCIS certification required (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required
- Vocational/Technical degree in RCIS, Radiologic Technology, or accredited Electrophysiology program
- Mechanical aptitude to operate and maintain complex lab equipment and monitoring systems
- Strong analytical skills for continuous patient monitoring, ECG interpretation, and medication dosage calculations
- Ability to work flexible schedules and participate in on-call rotation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient, family, and multidisciplinary team interactions
- Physical ability to lift and position patients and use required PPE (lead apron, thyroid shield)
Key Responsibilities
- Assist cardiologists and vascular physicians during catheter-based diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment including intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), Impella, IVUS, iFR/FFR systems, and hemodynamic monitors
- Support structural heart and interventional procedures such as TAVR, PFO closures, Watchman, angiography, atherectomy, and balloon/stenting
- Participate in electrophysiology studies and ablation procedures as needed
- Monitor and assess patient condition continuously; recognize normal and abnormal ECGs and alert the team promptly
- Prepare, administer, and calculate medications accurately per protocol
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to radiation safety and PPE protocols
- Manage supplies, maintain sterile field and lab/OR cleanliness, and support accurate procedure documentation and billing
- Respond quickly and effectively under pressure in a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment
