Immediate opening: PICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel assignment, 12-hour nights in Tacoma, WA. - Location: Tacoma, WA 98405 (Tacoma healthcare, Washington nursing jobs)
- Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) – 16 beds (neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, medical)
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract (travel nurse / travel nursing job)
- Start Date: May 18, 2026
- End Date: August 15, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights (1900-0700), every other weekend rotation (night shift PICU RN)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130 – $2,250 (competitive weekly pay for travel nurse)
- EMR: Epic (preferred) — Epic EMR experience is a plus
- Scrub Color: Any (no hooded shirts; long sleeves must be able to be pulled above the elbow)
Qualifications – PICU RN / Pediatric Critical Care
- Minimum 2 years of recent Pediatric ICU / PICU RN experience required (pediatric critical care RN)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact license accepted where applicable)
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Clinical skills: ventilator and trach management, suctioning, g-tube/j-tube and feeding tube care, chest tube management, epidurals, PCA and drip management, Foley insertion/management, and discharge planning
- Experience with aseptic/sterile technique and complex pediatric nursing procedures
- CRRT experience with Prismax preferred; CICU experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred

Responsibilities – Pediatric ICU Nurse
- Provide high-quality, family-centered nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU with medical, surgical, trauma, and cardiovascular conditions
- Manage respiratory patients (high flow, CPAP, BiPAP), tracheostomies, ventilators, and complex airway care
- Care for patients with oncology, RSV, asthma, Covid, MIS-C, new-onset diabetes (insulin drips), chronically ill, and trauma cases
- Support cardiovascular/post-op congenital heart patients from surgery through discharge (cardiac and surgical pediatric care)
- Perform and manage dressing changes, suctioning, feeding tubes, chest tubes, epidural and PCA care, infusion/drip titration, Foley catheter care, and discharge teaching
- Float as needed to MedSurg or ED as Helping Hands or Constant Observer to support unit needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, social work) to ensure optimal pediatric patient outcomes
- Participate in every other weekend rotation and adapt to schedule flexibility required for travel nursing assignments
