- Position: Pathology Assistant / Pathologists Assistant – Travel Pathology Job
- Setting: Pathology Lab / Grossing Department, Surgical Pathology
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 18, 2026 – August 17, 2026)
- Shift: Day shift, 5x8-hour (09:00 – 17:30), Monday–Friday
- Hours per Week: 40
- Weekend/Holiday Requirement: No weekends or holidays required
- Charting / LIS: EPIC
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Pathology Assistant or Pathologists Assistant in a hospital pathology lab
- Graduate of an accredited Pathologists Assistant program
- ASCP certification preferred (ASCP-certified preferred for surgical pathology and grossing tech roles)
- Proven experience with surgical pathology, frozen sections, and high-complexity specimens (mastectomy, limb amputation, nephrectomy, laryngectomy, radical prostatectomy, cystoprostatectomy, thyroidectomy, colectomy, hysterectomy, gastrectomy)
- Familiarity with grossing equipment and lab technology: cassette labeler, Dragon voice recognition, tissue processor loading, Windows 10, cryostat
- Strong documentation skills and proficiency in EPIC for accurate lab reporting
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with pathologists, histotechnologists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Must adhere to facility scheduling, attendance policies, and department dress code
Responsibilities
- Perform gross examination and evaluation of complex surgical specimens as a grossing tech in surgical pathology
- Cut and stain frozen sections and assist pathologists during intraoperative consultations
- Manage a daily caseload of 30–50 specimens while maintaining quality and turnaround times
- Document findings and maintain accurate records in EPIC and the laboratory information system
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure high-quality patient care and diagnostic accuracy
- Participate in orientation, ongoing training, and quality improvement initiatives in the grossing department
