Opportunity:
RN - Oncology Acute Tele
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Minimum of 1 weekend per month required with 4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks
• Holidays worked on a rotation basis based on unit coverage
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• 32-bed Oncology Acute Telemetry unit caring for 85% oncology patients and 15% telemetry/medsurg patients including surgical, medical, and oncology diagnoses
• Float to other MedSurg/Telemetry units as needed
• Charting via Cerner EMR
• Telemetry monitoring via Philips system with RN responsible for EKG interpretation
• Experience with Bipap and CPAP ventilators required
• Must be proficient in Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath insertion with sterile field technique
• Must be proficient in central line dressing changes with sterile field technique
• 2-day floor-specific orientation provided
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Chemotherapy certification is a plus
• BSN not required
• Scrub color: Navy
• Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings
• Men must be clean shaven for fit testing
• Must pass a pass/fail exam on Day 1 of orientation
• Must pass SIMs Lab skills assessment including Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath insertion
Facility:
This acute care facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center offering comprehensive medical services across multiple campuses. The facility provides 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support, along with a dedicated SWAT RN team available for difficult IV access. The unit is supported by 2 PCTs during both day and night shifts, and features a charge nurse model with a light patient assignment serving as an oncology resource RN.
