Opportunity:

RN - MS/Tele Float Pool

Job Details:

• Night shift position working 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 6-9 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
• Schedule is released 4-6 weeks in advance by leadership; travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
• All time-off requests must be submitted prior to starting assignment
• No home base facility - must live 60 miles from each facility within Zone 1
• Required to float throughout Zone 1 (based around Colorado Springs, CO), covering facilities within a 60-mile radius including Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis InterQuest, St. Mary Corwin, and St. Thomas More
• Schedules follow one of two formats: assigned to a single facility for the week with possible float within that facility, or Just-In-Time (JIT) assignment notified 1-2 hours before shift start via call
• Float pool covers multiple units ranging from General MS-Tele to various specialties including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
• May be asked to float into other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 based on acuity
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses including Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology post-surgical, General Surgery, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, and General Medicine
• Required to titrate Heparin drips
• RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP in use
• Nurse aides available on units
• Charting system: EPIC
• Cancellation policy: hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
• Rare call or standby requirement for low census situations
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele experience required; prior neuro experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• BSN not required; active state license required

The facilities offer diverse clinical environments spanning general medical-surgical, telemetry, cardiac, neurology, oncology, rehabilitation, and more. The organization utilizes EPIC as its electronic health record system and maintains dedicated charge nurses on each unit to support clinical staff and patient care delivery.
