Job Details:

• Level One Trauma experience required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/Telemetry experience with medical/surgical trauma and critical patients required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Kentucky or Compact nursing license required — all licenses and certifications must be in hand
• Must work a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per schedule period
• Patient ratios: 2:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Float required within ICU and stepdown units
• No call required
• Self-scheduling type
• 24 orientation hours
• Treats adult patient population
• 44-bed unit with a daily census of 44
• Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, multi-system organ failure, pneumonia, overdose, respiratory failure, and acute renal failure
• May travel with patients to IR, MRI, or CT
• Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, lift teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Required skills include arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care and management, continuous IV sedation, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure, PICC line management, suctioning (ETT and NT), titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and ventilator management
• Compliance requirements include EKG onboarding exam, advanced math exam, med/pharmacology exam, general ICU competency exam, trauma ICU competency exam, general ICU skills, trauma ICU skills, and CORE exams
• RTO must be submitted at the time of submission — RTO will not be approved if requested after the assignment has started
• Only single days off may be requested during the first 2 weeks of assignment; longer time off may be requested after the first 2 weeks
• No holiday RTO accepted
• Travelers may not work multiple contracts or assignments simultaneously
• At least 1 reference required at time of submission

This facility is a major academic medical center and teaching hospital serving as a Level One Trauma Center, equipped to handle the most complex and critical patient cases. The unit operates with a 44-bed capacity and is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and radiology. The facility maintains high standards for clinical expertise and offers a dynamic environment where nurses work alongside specialists across multiple service lines.
