Opportunity:

RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour day shifts required
• 4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks required, with weekend days defined as Saturday and Sunday
• Holiday shifts required based on unit coverage needs
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Must have Level 1 Trauma experience
• Recent med/surg experience required; no first-time travelers
• Telemetry experience preferred due to potential floating to other units within the hospital
• Required to take and pass dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting contract - 2 attempts allowed
• Must pass a pass/fail exam on day 1 of orientation
• Will float to Telemetry and other med/surg/tele areas; travelers are first to float
• Common patient diagnoses include post-op, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, and infection
• Heparin drip titration required; no cardiac drips
• No PCTs on unit; resource RN utilized in addition to charge RN
• Respiratory therapy will be assigned to the unit
• Charge nurse out of count; House Supervisor available 24/7; Manager available Monday through Friday
• Unit has 22 private rooms
• Self-scheduling made 4 weeks at a time
• 2 orientation shifts with a preceptor provided
• Must complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath insertion; SIMs Lab is pass/fail
• Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings
• Men must be clean shaven for fit test
• Must have own vehicle
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Charting system: Cerner
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)

This acute care facility is a growing medical-surgical unit with 22 private rooms, committed to building a unified and dedicated team. The facility provides comprehensive specialty support services and maintains high standards of patient care. The unit operates with a House Supervisor available 24/7 and utilizes a resource RN model to support nursing staff in delivering quality care to a diverse patient population.
