Opportunity:
RN - MS Tele Float Pool
Job Details:
• Night shift position working 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 6-9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Rare call or standby requirement for low census situations
• Schedule is released 4-6 weeks in advance by leadership; travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting assignment
• Traveler cannot miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract; shifts can be made up at the front or back end of the contract
• Must submit a 2-week notice to avoid back-out penalty fee
• No home base facility - must live 60 miles from each facility
• Must float within Zone 1 (based around Colorado Springs, CO) to the following facilities: Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis InterQuest, St. Mary Corwin, and St. Thomas More
• Schedules follow one of two formats: assigned to a single facility for the week with possible floating within that facility, or Just-In-Time (JIT) where facility is assigned 1-2 hours before shift start via call
• Float pool includes multiple units ranging from General MS-Tele to various specialties including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
• May be asked to float into any acuity level including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6 based on acuity
• Designated charge nurse on each unit; does not typically take a patient assignment
• Nurse aides available on units
• Required to titrate Heparin drips
• RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP in use
• Charting system: EPIC
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of MS-Tele experience; prior neuro experience preferred
• Common patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology post-surgical, General Surgery, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, and General Medicine
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Valid Colorado nursing license required
