Opportunity:
RN - MedSurg Peds
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Self-scheduling with weekends required as needed
• No holiday requirement
• First to float; floating to ED/ICU for 1:1s as needed
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4, Nights 1:5
• Unit consists of 17 beds: 14 inpatient and 3 observation
• Common diagnoses include UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD for both adult and pediatric patients
• RNs are not required to titrate drips; common drips include electrolytes, hypertensive medications, and diuretics
• Occasional BiPap on unit managed primarily by respiratory therapy
• ICU monitors telemetry and reads strips; MSP nurses apply telemetry to patients
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a patient assignment
• 2 nurse aides on day shifts; 1 nurse aide on night shifts
• Pediatrician is on call (not in house) for pediatric patients; pediatric patients are not managed by the hospitalist
• Charting system: MEDITECH
• Scrub color requirement: Navy blue
• Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift, with the option for one day and one night orientation if needed
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS
• BSN not required
• Facial hair policy: Clinicians with facial hair must pass a fit test; failure to pass or remove facial hair may result in contract cancellation

This acute care facility operates as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) providing comprehensive inpatient and observation services. The MedSurg Peds unit features 17 beds and supports a collaborative care environment with dedicated charge nurses, nurse aides, and respiratory therapy staff. The facility utilizes MEDITECH for electronic charting and emphasizes teamwork, communication, and quality patient care across both adult and pediatric populations.
