Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg / Ortho
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts with available hours of 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM or 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• Self-scheduling with cyclic rotation
• Every other weekend requirement
• Rotate holidays in with permanent staff
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Unit operates with 22 beds and an average daily census of 6
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available on unit at a ratio of 1:13
• Tele techs available to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Charge nurse present on each shift with their own patient assignment
• Common diagnoses include total knee replacements, total hip replacements, ankle replacements, total shoulder replacements, and spinal procedures
• Administer pain medications, antibiotics, and blood products at set rates (no drip titration required)
• Float to Med Surg, rehab, or PCU taking Med Surg acuity patients as needed
• 1 day of unit-specific orientation provided
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certification: BLS
• Driver's license required at submittal
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• If placed on call and called back in, must be able to arrive within 30 minutes
• Pass/Fail open book exam during orientation requiring a minimum score of 90% to pass
• Blocked scheduling not approved unless weekends only
• Requests for time off must be submitted upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract); additional time off will not be approved

The Med Surg/Ortho unit specializes in post-operative orthopedic care and supports a collaborative team environment with available support staff including patient care technicians and telemetry technicians. The facility utilizes EPIC for charting and maintains 24/7 phlebotomy services to support comprehensive patient care.
