Job Opportunity: RN Cath Lab - Travel Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Facility: Cleveland Medical Center, University Hospitals
Job Description
- Work in the health system’s most advanced and complex cardiac catheterization laboratory.
- Perform a variety of state-of-the-art procedures involving coronary, peripheral, and structural heart disease, including hybrid structural and aortic interventions.
- Roles include scrubbing, circulating, or monitoring cases.
- Cleveland Medical Center is the only University Hospitals facility performing Structural Heart procedures.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support): American Heart Association only. Required for clinical positions.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): American Heart Association only.
- Permanent RN License: Primary source verification required within 30 days of start; must be valid and permanent (no temporary licenses).
- 2-Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Negative reads within last 6 months; annual requirement. If positive, clear chest x-ray and current TB questionnaire required.
- Driver's License/State ID: Non-expired, required for submission.
Required Immunizations & Health Screenings
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titers within last 15 years; booster protocol if low titer.
- Varicella: Positive titers within last 15 years; booster protocol if low titer.
- Hepatitis B: Proof of full series, partial series with signed declination, or positive titers within 15 years.
- Tdap: Proof of vaccination within past 10 years; declinations not accepted.
- Fit Test: Completed within 1 year of start; specific approved mask models required.
- Influenza Vaccine: Preferred but not required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
- Physical/Health Statement: Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year stating ability to work without restrictions.
- Drug Screen: 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant drug screens not accepted.
Background & Employment Verification
- Criminal Background Check: Must be completed within 6 months of start, including SSN trace, county searches, and national criminal sweep.
- Ohio Fingerprints: Required for Ohio residents (BCI&I check and FCRA-compliant national database criminal background check). Attestation allowed if fingerprints pending.
- Social Security Trace: If not included in background check, must be completed within 1 year of start.
- Employment Verification: Verification of employment within last 5 years through third-party verification; attestations not allowed.
- Education Verification: Highest level of education verified; international education requires equivalency documentation.
- OIG, SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC Searches: Must be completed within 6 months prior to start.
Competency & Training Requirements
- UHS Competency Exam: Must score at least 80%; completed within 1 year prior to start.
- UHS Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission-NPSG, OSHA topics; 80% passing score required; completed once upon initial hire.
- UHS Skills Checklist: Clinical skill-specific checklist completed within 1 year prior to start (submission required).
- UHS Module Completion Certificate: Safety and compliance training modules must be completed prior to clearance.
- UHS Submission Packet: Resume including education and work history, 2 professional references within last 2 years, and completed job application (submission required).
- UHS Badge Photo: Required professional photo (shoulders up, plain background).
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum of 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Additional Notes
- Temporary licenses are not accepted; permanent RN license required.
- Attestations are generally not accepted except for fingerprinting pending status.
- Some immunization boosters require follow-up titers to confirm immunity.
- Background checks and verifications must be current and compliant with UHS policies.
