Required Experience & Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of core ICU experience in specialty submitted
• Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital experience required
• Previous travel experience required for ED, Neuro ICU
• Cerner EMR experience required for ED
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• CCRN preferred
• Must have strong ICU experience; CVICU experience preferred
• Must have Level 1 Trauma experience
• Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts)
• Must pass Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab (Foley catheter insertion & central line dressing changes)
• Must be competent in sterile field maintenance
• No facial piercings and only natural hair colors allowed
• Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing

Orientation & Onboarding

• Weekly orientations on Mondays (except holiday weeks)
• Onboarding paperwork due by 1pm CST Wednesday before start date (no exceptions)
• Floor-specific orientation: 2 days on the unit
• Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab and additional education on lifts, restraints, and wound care

Work Environment & Staffing

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 to 1:2, with many 1:1 assignments
• Charge nurse role available (no patient assignment)
• 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) on days and nights with high census
• Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Holiday shifts included in rotation (2 out of 4 major holidays)
• 12-hour day shifts (7am-7pm)
• Float to other ICUs and telemetry units; patient ratio 4:1 on telemetry
• Float to Westgate campus if requested
• Scrub color: Navy
• Telemetry equipment: Phillips
• Intensivist coverage: In-house during day, on-call at night
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• Cardiac surgery recovery
• Patients with IABP, CABG, ECMO, CRRT
• Lung transplant and thoracic surgery patients (esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy)
• TAVR patients
• High acuity with many bedside procedures including bronchoscopy, Swan-Ganz catheter, epidurals

Additional Notes

• Travelers must have their own vehicle if part of a travel team
• Cannot hold concurrent contracts with Dignity AZ
• Must have been off CommonSpirit permanent staff for 12 months to qualify for travel assignment
• Parking assigned with shuttle service to facility (garage parking for night shift)
• Cath Lab does not consider tech/RN teams
• High expectations for sterile technique and clinical competency
• Failure of dysrhythmia exam results in 6-month disqualification within CommonSpirit AZ and Sacramento regions
