Job Opportunity: RN ICU - Travel Position

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Employment Type: Travel Nurse


Job Description

  • Position in an ICU setting requiring Registered Nurse (RN) specialty.
  • Facility is part of a large hospital system in Wichita, KS.

Required Credentials and Certifications

Certifications

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and De-escalation training)
  • Optional: CPI/MOAB High Risk On-Site Portion (completed at orientation)

Licenses

  • Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and match address requirements).

Testing and Exams

  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out (test results and training checklist with signed attestation)
  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
  • Ascension Color Vision Test (updated every 3 years)

Health and Immunizations

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines or immunity (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Fit Test: Required annually (preferred prior to start)
  • Positive PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire (optional but recommended)
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA (required within 1 year and 30 days of start)
  • Health Statement or physical exam prior to assignment and updated annually

Onboarding and Professional Requirements

  • Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background)
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip (pre-hire modules for non-allied positions)
  • Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile)
  • Ascension 2 Professional References (at least two)
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check (7-year search including SSN trace, employment verification, OIG, sex offender registry)
  • Ascension EPLS (Exclusionary Provider List System) check within 90 days of start
  • Ascension Education Verification (within 90 days of start)
  • Ascension Employment Verification (7 years, updated annually)
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment (agency letterhead documentation of assignment dates)

Additional Notes

  • Some checklists and attestations must be completed prior to or at onboarding.
  • Certain trainings and exams allow only two attempts to pass.
  • Some documents and verifications must be updated annually or with each contract extension.
  • Post-assignment evaluations and optional name change documentation may be required.

This position requires thorough compliance with credentialing, health, and professional standards to ensure readiness for ICU travel nursing assignments within the Ascension Health system.
