Description

Job Opportunity: RN ICU - Wichita, Kansas

Facility Type: Level 1 Trauma Center
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Required Credentials and Onboarding Requirements

Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Nursing License: Must have primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Nursys Verification: Required within 30 days prior to start.
  • BLS (AHA): Required prior to start.
  • ACLS (AHA): Required prior to start.
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion: Must be completed prior to start.
  • NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years.
  • Driver's License/State ID: Must be current and match address on file.

Testing & Exams

  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Required prior to onboarding.
  • Ascension Specialty Exam: Must be completed prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years; minimum 80% passing score.
  • Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% passing score.
  • Ascension EKG Exam: Must be completed with at least 80% passing score; only two attempts allowed.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually.

Health & Immunizations

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer required; no declinations accepted.
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history required; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA: Required with specific timing; annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Positive PPD: Negative chest X-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite.
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and updated annually; includes testing for 12 specified substances.

Professional Documentation

  • Resume/Profile: Required for submission.
  • Two Professional References: Required prior to first assignment.
  • Criminal Background Check: Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender; updated annually.
  • Employment Verification: For past seven years; updated annually.
  • Education Verification: Relevant to clinical work; must be completed within 90 days of start.
  • Name Change Documentation: Optional, if applicable.

Onboarding & Orientation

  • Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background; no alterations.
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: Completion of pre-hire 6-hour module.
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions.
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updated with extensions.
  • Ascension EPLS: Must be run within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk On-Site Portion: Optional, completed at orientation.
  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist: Optional, uploaded by unit leader within a week.

This position requires thorough credentialing, testing, and health documentation to ensure compliance with facility and regulatory standards. The assignment is at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Wichita, Kansas, for approximately 13 weeks.
